Automotive impact

As automotive technologies continue to progress and are more reliant on computers, today’s automotive service technicians are more skilled than ever.

More sophisticated equipment repair is required of technicians on top of the classical mechanical diagnoses and repair.

Clayton Carroll Automotive Centre

Inside and automotive bay in the Clayton Carroll Automotive Centre. The Automotive Centre opened in July 2002 and has become a landmark on SAIT’s main campus.

After consulting and working with our industry partners, we designed a training facility that exceeded students’ and industry expectations.

The facility, built on three levels, offers 70,000 square feet of quality learning space, including:

  • 35,000 square feet dedicated to hands-on training in three automotive bays with the capacity to house 60 training vehicles
  • six eLearning classrooms equipped with internet capability and laptop-ready stations
  • interactive SMART symposiums in every classroom
  • five labs, including a tune-up/electrical lab, first-year and second-year apprenticeship labs, the General Motors Automotive Service Educational Program (ASEP) lab, and the Ford Automotive Student Service Educational Training (ASSET) lab
  • modern tools and equipment, including two geometry-based alignment machines and a radial force variation tire balancer.

Our goal was to provide an atmosphere nearly identical to what you will see in the workforce.
