Immokalee mechanic accused of stealing car and assaulting coworkers
Jonas Perez, 29, held his coworkers at gunpoint and threatened to their families on July 4th , according to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

A week-long Collier County Sheriff’s Office investigation has led to the arrest of a convicted felon on gun and assault charges in Immokalee. Jonas Perez, 29, of Naples, is accused of stealing a black Ford F250 from his place of work, the Drive Away Auto Center along Madison Avenue East and Broward St. on July 1st. When the car was returned on the July 4th holiday, Perez’s arrest report claims he became violent and enraged after coworkers attempted to report the auto theft. Video surveillance from the Drive Away Auto Center captured Perez hitting both men in the head and face, before pulling out a pistol and holding the two at gunpoint. During the conversation, you can hear Perez threaten to kill the employees’ families if they speak with law enforcement, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Collier County deputies located Perez following their investigation, who was already in custody due to unrelated drug charges. He now faces additional charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and owning a firearm as a convicted felon.
