Hyundai has revealed more details about its refreshed Tucson that it hopes will close the gap to the segment-leading Toyota RAV4. As previously announced, the facelifted 2024 Tucson line-up will be spearheaded by two new hybrid models.

Hyundai Australia has confirmed local specifications for the tweaked range ahead of its launch by “mid-2024.” The 1.6T GDi HEV powertrain features a 1.6-litre petrol engine paired with an electric motor to make 169kW/350Nm and will be available with front- or all-wheel drive, both with a six-speed automatic transmission.

The 115kW/192Nm 2.0-litre petrol engine, with six-speed auto and front-wheel drive remains, as does the 1.6-litre turbo, non-hybrid, with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive. However, the 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine has been dropped, as part of the brand’s electrification strategy and changing consumer demands.

Hyundai has also confirmed that it will offer up to three trim levels, although it’s unclear if it will continue to be labelled in the current, entry-level, Elite and Highlander grades, or if those names will evolve. The N Line styling pack will continue to be available across the range, including the new hybrids.

These include LED exterior lighting as standard across the range, matte paint options, new wheels and styling tweaks, new dual 12.3-inch screens for the infotainment and instrument display, a head-up display, wired and wireless Apple CarPlay, a revised air-conditioning system with physical buttons as well as the previously reported interior styling changes.

Another major new addition is the introduction of Hyundai Blue Link connected safety system and over-the-air updates, as well as mild-autonomous Highway Driving Assist.

The other obvious missing piece is the pricing, with the company keeping that under wraps until closer to launch locally, although the new equipment is expected to bring a price rise across the board.
