Julian Moreno Wins Mitchell 1 Automotive Technology Scholarship

Julian Moreno of Omaha, Nebraska, earned the 2025 Mitchell 1 Automotive Technology Outstanding Student title.

This automotive technology scholarship includes a $2,500 award and a paid trip to the 2025 NACAT conference in Detroit.

“Mitchell 1 is proud to honor and congratulate Julian Moreno as the 2025 Mitchell 1 Automotive Technology Outstanding Student,” said Jen MacDonald, director of marketing for Mitchell 1.
“Julian’s educational achievements and hard work reflect his commitment to excellence. We wish him a bright future ahead in the auto industry.”

Education and Career Goals in Collision Repair

Moreno studies automotive collision repair technology at Metropolitan Community College in Omaha, Nebraska. He plans to graduate in 2027 and improve his skills and knowledge in auto collision repair. His goal is to own an auto body shop and run a successful business in the automotive industry.

Success in Competitions and Automotive Training

Moreno competed in the Metropolitan Community College Invitational and won first place in the Collision Repair Technology division.

He also participated in the SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference and Competition in Grand Island, Nebraska. There, he placed third in the Collision Repair Technology division among several other skilled student competitors.

Early Inspiration and Personal Interests

Moreno chose an automotive career after taking an auto collision repair course in high school. His parents influenced his love of cars by taking him to car shows and automotive events. His father taught him basic car repair and maintenance during his younger years. Now, Moreno spends free time customizing his own car and practicing his repair skills.

About the Mitchell 1 Automotive Technology Scholarship Program

Mitchell 1 and the University of the Aftermarket Foundation honor one outstanding U.S. or Canadian automotive student each year.

The award recognizes excellence in automotive technology and scholastic performance in auto shop repair coursework, according to Mitchell 1.

This automotive technology scholarship highlights a student who demonstrates skill, dedication and academic achievement.

To qualify, students must major in automotive technology or repair and meet specific eligibility criteria. They must receive a NACAT instructor nomination and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicants must attend or plan to attend an accredited college or university in the U.S. or Canada. They must also be U.S. or Canadian citizens at the time of application.
