Tata Technologies (NSE: TATATECH), a global provider of product engineering and digital services, has entered into a strategic collaboration with Synopsys, a leader in semiconductor and system-level design tools. The partnership is focused on accelerating the automotive sector’s transition to software-defined vehicles (SDVs), helping manufacturers adapt to the growing demands of connected, autonomous, and intelligent mobility.

The two companies will combine their strengths—Tata Technologies’ expertise in automotive engineering and embedded systems with Synopsys’ capabilities in virtualization, digital twin technology, and system-level simulation. The goal is to simplify SDV development, reduce time to market, and support automotive OEMs in managing the rising complexity of vehicle electronics and software integration.

As part of this alliance, Tata Technologies and Synopsys have already begun working with a prominent European automotive manufacturer to reshape its E/E (electrical and electronic) architecture for a software-centric design approach. Additional pilot initiatives are underway with OEMs across India, North America, and Europe.

This includes innovations in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), powertrain and chassis solutions, as well as central computing units and gateways that enable seamless data integration and intelligent control. In addition, the partnership will drive progress in infotainment and connectivity platforms to improve the in-vehicle experience, while also strengthening capabilities in electric vehicle and battery systems to support the global shift toward sustainable mobility.

The collaboration between Tata Technologies and Synopsys is centered around several key technical areas aimed at advancing software-defined vehicle development. One of the main priorities is the creation of virtual prototypes and simulation models using electronics digital twin (eDT) technology. These digital models allow for early-stage software testing, reducing development time and enabling more efficient design validation before physical prototypes are built.

Another area of emphasis is the analysis of system performance, power consumption, and functional safety. Synopsys’ advanced multiphysics and reliability tools will play a critical role in this phase, helping automotive manufacturers evaluate and fine-tune critical parameters across complex vehicle systems. This ensures that designs meet stringent safety and efficiency standards throughout the development process.

In addition, the partnership will support comprehensive development of electronic control units (ECUs) and the overall E/E (electrical and electronic) architecture, with Tata Technologies contributing its embedded systems expertise. The initiative also includes robust software verification and validation services aligned with global automotive safety standards such as ISO 26262 and ASPICE, ensuring compliance and reliability across all system layers.
